Concentrate Adaptor for the PAX 3 Dry Flower Vaporizer

I led the industrial design effort to develop a new concentrated adapter for the PAX 3 vaporizer, working closely with mechanical engineering and multiple client stakeholders to address significant usability and performance issues with the existing solution.

To build stakeholder buy-in for the program, I developed the creative schedule and highly iterative sprint-based design approach that structured the program from concept exploration through implementation support. Working in partnership with engineering leads and client stakeholders, I led the design effort, drove presentations, and guided design decisions throughout development.

The result was a novel adapter system that mitigated leaking issues while improving the loading, handling, cleaning, and overall experience of vaporizing concentrates with the PAX 3.

Although the product ultimately did not move to market, the program demonstrates how design leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and a structured development process can turn a complex product challenge into a manufacturable solution.

The PAX 3 shipped with a concentrate adaptor, but the existing solution introduced a number of usability and performance issues.

Leakage, sticking lids, exposed hot surfaces, and a fragile assembly made loading, handling, and cleaning unnecessarily difficult.

The opportunity was to rethink how concentrates were loaded, contained, and vaporized within the constraints of the PAX 3 platform.

Working across Industrial Design and Mechanical Engineering, the program explored a new adaptor system designed to improve reliability, usability, and the overall concentrate experience.
